Spin

Spin
By looking at new ways to utilise Aiwa Shibori’s metal spinning technique, Takenouchi Webb created three different forms in brass – a Tube, Funnel and Dish. Each of these forms are hanging planters for displaying plants and flowers in different ways. The Tube displays one or two single stems, the Funnel features a punctured insert to arrange a number of stems, and the Dish is a shallow vessel intended for air-plants.
Each form displays different surface characteristics of colours and fine lines created by the tools and techniques used to produce them.
Craft: Hera Shibori (Manual Metal Spinning)

Dimensions: Tube – w50mm x h157mm x d50mm,

Glowball

Glowball
In collaboration with Sugahara, we developed a glass tea light holder that would be beautiful in both day and nighttime. The combination of a strong and simple geometric composition of a gently tapering cone for the base, and sphere at the top that rests in a recess,
the tea light holder expresses the lightness of the glassware and showcases the different techniques of production.
The cone base is produced in a blue/grey glass with a more solid colour tone towards the top. The sphere is a simple transparent mouth-blown ball, with a graduated sandblasted finish, in which the tea-light sits.
Craft: Mouth-blown Glassware
Material: Glass
Dimensions: Globe – 100mm Diameter, w 100mm x H190mm x D100mm

Drip

Drip
The characteristic of the Kozangama kiln is the hand-made quality of its pottery. We developed a five-piece pour-over coffee brew set, produced with a textured matt-white glazing technique which we were drawn to when we visited their kiln.
The coffee set family consists of two cups, two small dishes, a drip funnel and coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. The forms are characterised by their simplicity and subtle variations in the surface of the glaze. The fluted surfaces also express the hand of the craftsman in the making of the pieces.

The organic shape-inspired by the image of fruit bowls on coffee tables- blends into different interior styles and highlights the depth and strong colours of Urushi-nuri. These limited edition boxes are not only beautiful to look at but have the very practical purpose of hiding away unsightly objects such as tissue boxes, remote controls, notebooks and other things, making any space less cluttered. Embrace

Embrace
The beauty of textile patterns that are usually only found on kimonos is taken out of its traditional context and applied to bedding to bring that luxurious and sensuous feel to everyday life. The pattern was custom-designed and dyed by using hand-crafted katagami, which itself is a labour of love: simple yet intricate and made with endless care and attention to detail. The silk fabric used for this bedding set is produced the same way a kimono is produced, down to the width of the textile and how it is stitched together. It has many practical properties like being hypoallergenic and helping to maintain a comfortable body temperature, but it also just feels like a beautiful embrace. Embrace was designed for winter use, but once the duvet is taken out it can be used on its own as bedding for the warmer seasons. The colour and pattern are calming and soothing, setting just the right tone before one goes to sleep.
Craft: Tokyo Some Komon (Fine-pattern textile dyeing)
Material: Silk fabric with inner silk wadding
Dimensions: L 2400mm × W 2400mm
Available Colors: Gold, Tiffany, Grey and Black

What makes the design unique is that the crib can be modified, following the baby’s growth and development.
